The White Rose Diving Invitational
13 - 14th October 2007

In conjunction with Leeds City Council the City of Leeds Diving Club is proud to invite you to the eleventh White Rose Novice Diving Invitational.

This will be the first diving competition to held in the NEW Aquatic Centre in Leeds.  The pool is a state of the art facility boasting a full complement of springboards and platforms with a new fully equipped dry land training area.  The new pool layout will provide a great atmosphere and a fantastic new home for the White Rose competitions.

The divers will perform 12 skills.  These skills will be divided into 3 stations of 4 skills and assessed with 3 judges at each.  The competitors will be divided across the 3 stations and rotated once each station has finished.  Once the final result has been calculated the top 6 divers will progress to the final where 3 designated skills will be repeated.

This 'gymnastic style' competition format should create a very exciting environment for our up and coming stars to demonstrate their talent.  We are updating our scoring system to cater for this new style competition and would urge you to come along and get involved with what be a 'new age in novice diving competitions'.

Awards will be given to the top 6 finalists, Top Coach and the Top Team will receive the White Rose Trophy.

As usual, look out for the extra entertainment whilst here in Leeds.  There will be a short diving show before each final session which will feature some of the top divers in the country including Commonwealth Games Team Members from Leeds - Tandi Gerrard, Rebecca Gallantree and Callum Johnstone.

On behalf of the organising team, the city of Leeds Diving Club and Leeds City Council, we look forward to welcoming you to what will be one of the most exciting novice competitions this year!!! .

Yours in diving

Dive Sheets

Dive Sheets must be submitted prior to your arrival.

Close of play for dive sheets is:  Wednesday 10th October

We are using DiveRecorder, the electronic scoring system developed by Malcolm Taylor from Edinburgh.  Those of you who were at ASA events this year will have seen it in action in Plymouth, Southampton and Sheffield.

One advantage of Dive Recorder is that we can accept dive sheets electronically and input them directly to the scoring system. This is simple and easy to do online or off-line and you can then e-mail the file to AnnBarker@aol.com .

Step 1:  Go on line, visit  DiveRecorder downloads
at http://www.diverecorder.co.uk , download the DiveSheets program and follow the instructions for installing on your PC.  If you have already downloaded DiveSheets (for ASA competitions) go to Step 2.

Step 2:  Staying on line, open the DiveSheets program.  To download the Meet Configuration file (.mcf), Click on New Meet, double click on White Rose 2006 in the list to load it into DiveSheets (see on line instructions)

Step 3:  complete all the dive sheets for your divers on or off-line.  Enter all your divers, fill in their dive sheets in Entries, print off a report that gives details of all your divers and their dives (this is your prompt copy for the event).

Step 4:  When you're happy you have all the information on divers/dive sheets entered and saved, printed your report, go back on line, click on submit in DiveSheets.  Fill in all the appropriate boxes, follow the on line instructions.  An e-mail is created that will send the .mcf file to Ann to upload to the Scoring program.     If you use AOL you might need to attach the file from the DiveSheets folder.  There are instructions in DiveSheets which give details of the naming convention for the .ent file (you can view this file in Notepad or Wordpad if you need to).

If you have any problems you can e-mail AnnBarker@aol.com  and I will send the .mcf file for you to attach to DiveSheets or help with more instructions.

Copy of the Meet Configuration file to download:

Close of play for dive sheets is Wednesday 10th October, before this would be much better.  We will, of course, operate a policy of allowing changes to dive sheets up to 1 hour before the start of the day's competitions ie last change time on Saturday 9.00 am, Sunday 8.00 am.
